Viktoria was born in Odesa, Ukraine, graduating from Odesa National Maritime University in 2012. From 2011 – 2013, Viktoria worked in maritime shipping, focusing on chartering and operations.

Since 2013, she has taken an active role in the civil movement during the Ukrainian Revolution of Dignity. With the beginning of Russian aggression against her country in March 2014 and for the two following years, she was a volunteer for the Ukrainian Army. During this time, she worked with the local internally displaced people (IDP) of Donbas, the war zone.

In 2016 – 2017, Viktoria worked at the Odesa Regional State Administration office as a communication manager for the Health and Social Care department, and here had the chance to practice her peacemaker skills literally every day – dealing with the IDPs, soldiers and people in need.

In December 2017, Viktoria joined Cruise Maritime Voyages to work on a cruise ship sailing around the world – to prepare herself mentally and emotionally for the commencement of the Fall 2018 semester at UNC.

Viktoria believes that taking part in the Rotary Peace Fellowship program is a wonderful chance to gain additional knowledge and further develop skills so she can continue working in the mediation and conflict resolution field, as that is the most important thing she can do for her country.
