When you register for the GRE and TOEFL/IELTS exams, you should indicate the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Graduate School and Duke University Graduate School as score recipients. The UNC Graduate School Institution Code is 5816. The Duke University Graduate School Institution Code 5156. ETS will require you to select a department code. It does not matter which department code you choose. The Graduate School will receive the scores as long as you choose the above mentioned institution codes of 5816 and 5156.

The GRE is a very important step in applying to American universities. It is required when applying to UNC and strongly recommended when applying to Duke. If you are interested in attending Duke University and have questions pertaining to the GRE exam, please contact Amy Cole at coleac@live.unc.edu
