Daniel Martins Silva Ferreira

Daniel Martins is a Senior Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Specialist with over ten years of experience working at the intersection of evidence, data, public policy, human rights, social development, and humanitarian action. His professional trajectory is marked by work in complex and crisis-affected contexts, collaborating with international non-governmental organizations, United Nations agencies, think tanks, regional bodies, and public institutions across the Global South. Daniel has extensive experience coordinating evaluations, multi-sectoral needs assessments, and results-based monitoring systems. In the humanitarian field, he has worked in high-intensity operations, with a particular focus on responses to the Venezuelan refugee and migrant crisis in Brazil. Within Operation Acolhida, he supported protection, shelter, and socioeconomic integration initiatives by leading rigorous analyses and innovative data projects aimed at promoting the autonomy of refugee and migrant populations in Brazil. In addition, he contributed to the design and implementation of large-scale humanitarian evaluations in the context of the war in Ukraine, working directly with UN agencies and inter-agency coordination mechanisms. More recently, Daniel has worked with disaster-affected communities and in the defense of the rights of people impacted by the Brumadinho mining dam collapse, one of the largest socio-environmental disaster-crimes in Brazil and worldwide. In this context, he supported the coordination of technical advisory projects and a socioeconomic reparations program totaling BRL 300 million (approximately USD 57.7 million), benefiting more than 400 communities across 26 Brazilian municipalities with community-led projects and social and solidarity economy strategies.
