Jorge is a Captain in the Chilean Army. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Military Sciences from the Military Academy and one in Social Sciences from Diego Portales University. He also has post-graduate studies on International Studies and Arabic and Islamic culture, from the Universidad de Chile. He has 15 years of work experience in education, peacekeeping and disaster relief missions.

He started his career in the south of the country, where he participated in relief missions after the 8.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the country in 2010. During that same year he was part of the European Union peacekeeping mission “Althea” in Bosnia & Herzegovina, where his team was responsible - among others - of maintaining a constant liaison with the civilian population and local authorities and also provide Mine Risk Education in schools.

From 2012, he started to work in the Army’s education system, first as a teacher in the Chilean Military Academy and later in the Infantry Battle School, where he performed activities as a teacher and also as Head of the Academic Management Section.

During the years 2018 to 2019, he was deployed as a Military Observer in the Middle East where he worked for the United Nations to assist Israel and Syria to observe the disengagement agreement in the Golan, and later as Head of Training of the mission.

His last position was as Head of the Planning and Investigation Section of the Education Division, were he supervised the curricular programs in the courses done in the Army.

When he completes his studies in the MIDP program, he aspires to work at a strategical level in the Armed Forces, promoting policies for the country's progress, and to work for more decision-making participation in the international cooperation stage in peace building and peacekeeping missions.
