Maria Clara Jaramillo, Colombia

Maria, a native of Colombia, completed a year of training at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School after completing her LLM in American and international regulation in foreign trade at Georgetown University and a law degree and post-graduate degree in conflict resolution from Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. Prior to commencing her Rotary scholarship, she served as the post-graduate director and professor of negotiation techniques at the Universidad Externado de Colombia in Bogota, where she designed academic programs and consulted on conflicts for this university. Her service activities include the Human Rights League in Bolivia, for which she reviewed negotiation methods and suggested alternatives. She was employed in the mayor’s office in Riosucio, Colombia, where she worked with civic leaders to provide alternate methods for conflict resolution. She plans to dedicate her professional life to promoting peace and conflict resolution in order to generate positive changes in the world.
