Matthew Ford, Australia

Matthew received a Bachelor’s in Economics and a B.A. in Politics and German from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. As a student he interned with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade at Australian National University, in addition to helping train athletes for national and international competitions as a gymnastics coach. After graduating, Matthew traveled throughout Southeast Asia before moving to Japan in 2001 to teach English and study Japanese language and culture along with traditional martial arts. As a Rotary World Peace Fellow, Matthew plans to develop skills in politics and economics as they apply to the goals of peace and development. He is interested to gain practical experience in conflict resolution and policy implementation during fieldwork and go on to work with an international organization in a policy role.
