Mr. Oliver Ebwor is the Environment Officer for the Abim District Local Government in Uganda. He holds an MSc in Environmental Management from the Institute of Life and Earth Sciences (including Health and Agriculture), Pan African University, University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from the Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning and Management from the Uganda Management Institute, Kampala, Uganda with a passion and commitment to peace and development.
Before he was appointed Environment Officer, Mr. Oliver served as the Senior Project Officer (Livelihoods, Energy and Environment) from 2019 to 2023 with the Lutheran World Federation (LWF), Kampala - Uganda Program, Resilience Officer (Integrated Water Resource Management) from 2018 to 2019 with Caritas, Kotido Diocese, Kotido – Uganda, and as an Associate Field Manager from 2017-2018 at GiveDirectly, a nonprofit implementing an ICT enable unconditional cash transfer to families living in extreme poverty among the refugees and host community households in Uganda.
During his MIDP studies, Oliver expects to learn and gain experience from applied research and technical expertise that will integrate theory and practice, combining both macro and micro-level analysis of peace and development-related issues by being able to translate values and principles into policy. He would love to make contacts and connect with the wide networks of professionals that the fellowship brings to the program with the hope of advocating for climate justice and environmental conservation. He also hopes to use nature-based solutions through policy actions that harness the power of nature to solve societal challenges, such as natural resource conflicts resulting from climate change, after the completion of his studies.
