Rifumo Khoza is a South African social worker dedicated to restorative justice, youth empowerment, and transforming responses to gender-based violence (GBV). She currently works for an NGO that supports vulnerable populations diverted through the justice system. In this position, she offers therapeutic services, leads violence prevention workshops, manages school-based programs, and supervises auxiliary social workers and students. Her work highlights trauma-informed care and community involvement.
Rifumo holds an Honors Degree in Social Work from Stellenbosch University and a BA in Tourism Development from the University of Johannesburg. She has also completed additional training in child and adolescent mental health, restorative justice, and court intermediary services. Her leadership background includes serving as a communications manager for a disability organization. awareness organization and acting as a GBV program trainer and stakeholder forum member in the Western Cape.
Alongside her fieldwork, Rifumo is passionate about social policy and program management. She aims to influence systemic change by designing scalable interventions that integrate restorative justice and evidence-based social service practices into national policy frameworks.
As a Rotary Peace Fellow, Rifumo is pursuing a Master of Social Work with a focus on peacebuilding, policy development, and sustainable community strategies. After completing the program, she plans to return to South Africa to lead restorative justice and GBV prevention programs that bridge the gap between formal systems and grassroots communities—ensuring inclusive, culturally competent responses to violence and inequality.
