Class 24 (2025-2027)

Shahid Khan, United Kingdom

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill – Global Studies

Shahid Khan is a Civil Servant in the Scottish Government with a proven track record of policy design, analysis, and delivery. He has 15 years of experience in community engagement, public participation, advocacy, and project delivery.

Originally from Pakistan, Shahid was raised as part of the Christian minority—a background that shaped his deep commitment to peace. As a young activist, he documented the plight of religious minorities through interviews with victims of violence and public reporting on abuses. Shahid has been living in the UK since 2012, where he has rebuilt his life through education and public service.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Sociology from the University of Punjab, and a first-class honors degree in Politics and International Relations from the University of Aberdeen. His undergraduate thesis explored the role of peace education in Pakistan and how policymakers can promote a human rights-based culture in response to the marginalization of religious minorities.

In the Scottish Civil Service, Shahid held various roles across Population Health, the Digital Directorate, and Corporate functions. He was part of the award-winning COVID-19 vaccination program, which saved thousands of lives and delivered millions of doses across Scotland. He also led a digital inclusion initiative aimed at improving access to devices and digital skills, particularly for marginalized communities.

Shahid co-founded the Global Minorities Alliance and has led peace and development projects internationally. In Kenya, he established a school library by collecting over 4,000 books. In Pakistan, he helped create a sewing school that continues to support over 100 women with skills and income generation.
After his studies, Shahid hopes to pursue a career in conflict resolution, international development, and peace initiatives.
